Air Duct Cleaning – Necessary or Not?
I have recently been perusing the internet for opinions on whether or not air duct cleaning is a necessary part of home maintenance. As one would think there are many and varied ideas out there. However, the more I read the more I see that although the EPA does not scientifically back up the necessity it does see its benefits. More than that to me is that people (like you and me) are recommending it to their friends and family. Once people have it done they are immediately recognizing its many benefits. I read one article in particular put out by Angie’s List that illustrates what I am referring to. Her is an excerpt from that article:
Linda Wetzel of Shaker Heights, Ohio, says she was skeptical about air duct cleaning until a friend told her it had improved her allergies. “I figured common sense said, if there’s dust on the table, there has to be dust in the vents,” Wetzel says.
After hiring a highly rated cleaner she found on Angie’s List, Wetzel was very pleased with the results. She says she noticed an immediate improvement in air quality — everyone in the house suffered fewer allergies afterward — and the entire HVAC system worked more efficiently.
“We used our air conditioner less in the summer because it had so much more airflow,” she says. “And we used the heater less during an incredibly cold winter.”
Couldn’t have illustrated things any better than that myself. Hope to provide more helpful information and tips in the coming weeks.
