Indoor Air Quality – Summer is Here…Already?
Somehow I blew through spring and forgot to notice. Summer is already here! School is winding down or already finished for some and summer schedules (or lack thereof) are approaching in rapid fashion. With that being said my mind automatically goes to the new season and the affect it has on our indoor breathing atmosphere. And, the verdict is in. Summer indoor air quality can be much worse than other seasons. Unfortunately, according to a survey done by 3M back in 2008, only about 40% of us give much thought to the air we breathe indoors. I say unfortunately because we spend around 90% of our time indoors. Hmmm reason would say we might ought to give it a little more thought.
Off to research I went. In doing so most 0f what I found was in agreement and can be summed up fairly simply. It isn’t that difficult to help improve our indoor breathing atmosphere.
- Check those air filters frequently to be sure you are not sending dirty air back into your home and are allowing your HVAC system to run as efficiently as possible.
- Make sure there is proper ventilation and maximum circulation.
- Control the moisture levels. Perhaps incorporate a dehumidifier.
- Vacuum and mop regularly.
- Avoid using harsh chemicals for pest control.
Of course, that is just a summation but it sure is a good place to start. Let’s make this a summer of better indoor air! If we can help you accomplish that with air duct cleaning or air purification, please call or visit our site today!
