Open Those Windows and Let the Fresh Air In
After some searching, I’m finding a consensus for one of the best ways to improve the quality of your home’s air. The consensus seems to be to open the windows. Of course, I realize that it is summer and we are most likely trying to keep the hot outdoor air out. However, perhaps opening a few at night could be an answer.
Unfortunately, a lot of what makes our indoor air pretty poor is the stuff that is already in our homes and that we probably use everyday. Things such as air fresheners, chemicals, cleaners, cooking sprays or oils, even dirty air filters or dirty air ducts.
We should definitely try to reduce those irritants/pollutants already in our homes. And, we should also let a little of the fresh air in from outside. Those things combined could really help improve the air you and your family breathe everyday.
We need to try and remember that even thought we can’t “see” many of the irritants/pollutants in our air, they are definitely there. We see dust and dirt and we do everything possible to rid our homes of these irritants. Shouldn’t we probably do more to rid our homes of the ones we can’t see?
A great first step is to let a little more fresh air in through some open windows. Even this small thing will start to make a big difference. After you start there and begin to see a difference, who knows what you’ll tackle next. Let’s all try and at least take that first small step. Here’s to cleaner indoor air!
As always, if we can help you breathe easier let us know!
