Indoor Air Quality – A Matter of Health?
I came across the following table and it really gave me cause for pause. All of those things (some of them minor irritations, some real issues) could, in some part, be caused by the air I am breathing indoors? Oh man! I don’t like to think about that. Unfortunately, it could very well be true not only for me but for you too.
The EPA found in a survey that Americans spend 87% of their lives inside, and that indoor air pollutant levels are up to 100 times higher than levels you may find outside. Yikes! Now think about the fact that we breathe an estimated 3,000 gallons of air every day. It’s becoming clear now.
We really need to increase the quality of the air we breathe indoors. The benefits are:
- Improve your health. That’s right. And actually, 50% of all illnesses are either caused or aggravated by polluted indoor air according to the American College of Allergists.
- Decrease? your energy consumption. How? Cleaner air enhances how efficient your heating and cooling system works. How about “smaller carbon footprint” and “lower costs over time?”
- Take care of your system. Better air quality keeps heating and air conditioning components from corrosion, microbials, dirt and debris.
These all sound great! One of the ways you can begin to increase the quality of your indoor air is to have those air ducts cleaned. Of course, we would be happy to help yo with that.
